The original course “Theory and Technology of Teaching Kazakh Literature,” developed by our University, has been published on Coursera, an international online learning platform.

The course is led by Pakizat Adiyeva, Associate Professor at the Department of Kazakh Philology, Faculty of Philology.

Delivered in Kazakh, the course is designed to enhance the professional training of future teachers of Kazakh language and literature and to integrate traditional approaches to teaching literature with modern educational technologies.

Throughout the course, learners study the theoretical foundations of literary education, methods for defining learning objectives, lesson planning based on Bloom’s Taxonomy, and the development of assessment criteria and descriptors. Particular attention is also given to analysing poetry, prose and drama and to methods for exploring their themes, artistic features, aesthetic value and educational significance.

One of the course’s key areas is the promotion of national values through literary works and the development of students’ moral qualities, reading culture, critical thinking and creativity. The course also addresses the development of environmental awareness and a responsible attitude towards nature through an ecocritical analysis of representations of nature in literary texts.

A distinctive feature of this educational project is its integration of traditional teaching methods with modern digital technologies. Learners acquire skills in effectively using interactive methods, online platforms, digital educational resources and artificial intelligence tools in literature lessons.

Upon completing the course, learners will be able to plan literature lessons independently, conduct comprehensive analyses of literary works and effectively assess students’ knowledge. They will also learn to design assignments tailored to students’ individual abilities and needs and apply modern technologies in the classroom. This will enable them to develop the professional competencies required to provide literature education grounded in national values.

On behalf of the University, we express our gratitude to Bilim Upskill, a partner in the Coursera project, for its support throughout the development and publication of the course.
