Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Karaman, who was recently appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees by decree of the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, visited our University. The new Chairman was welcomed by Rector Zhanar Temirbekova and Rector’s Representative Peyami Battal.
It should be noted that Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Karaman is a distinguished scholar with extensive experience in higher education and a highly qualified specialist in academic administration.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees began his visit with a meeting with the University’s senior management. The meeting was attended by the Rector, the Rector’s Representative, vice-rectors, faculty deans, and directors of research institutes.
Opening the meeting, Hüseyin Karaman congratulated the University community on the beginning of the new 2026–2027 academic year and expressed confidence that it would be a successful and productive year for the University.
“I believe that, together with the University leadership, we will contribute to the further development of our University, which was established with the support of our two countries. The University’s key priorities and guiding principles are quality, accreditation, and internationalization. These three areas are essential and require particular attention in education, scientific research, healthcare, and the implementation of socially responsible projects. First and foremost, we must focus on improving the quality of education and research, as well as all activities carried out at the University. Another important objective is to further strengthen the University’s position in international and national rankings,” said the Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
The members of the University’s senior management then introduced themselves and provided information about their professional backgrounds, current positions, and areas of responsibility. Hüseyin Karaman also spoke about his professional career and administrative experience.
Rector Zhanar Temirbekova thanked the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for making a special visit from Ankara to the University on the occasion of September 1 – Knowledge Day, and wished him every success in his new role.
Rector’s Representative Peyami Battal also noted that the arrival of the new Chairman at Yassawi University was a significant and welcome occasion.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Hüseyin Karaman said:
“Turkistan is the spiritual capital of the Turkic world, while our ancestor Khoja Akhmed Yassawi is a revered figure for all Turkic peoples. The name ‘Yassawi,’ which our University proudly bears, represents a great responsibility entrusted to us. Our duty is to preserve this legacy with the utmost care and carry it forward with honor. Let us work together toward this goal.”
Following the meeting, the Chairman toured the University campuses and familiarized himself with the University’s infrastructure and day-to-day activities.
